Terms And Conditions
Driver’s licence:
All drivers must have a valid full licence and be aged 21 or over. Drivers must have the necessary category for the vehicle you’re hiring. A current overseas licence is acceptable if it is written in English, otherwise, we might require an International Driver’s permit.
Payment and Security Bond:
Payment is to be made at the commencement of the hire by either EFTPOS, cash or debit/credit card.
A NZ $350 security bond is required for all hires and is refundable on completion of the hire (paid in addition to the cost of the hire). This may be paid by either EFTPOS, cash or credit card.
Deposit and Cancellation Policy
All hires require a non-refundable deposit of $100 that will be charged at the time of booking during all times of the year.
In the event of cancellation of hire by the hirer, the hirer loses the deposit of $100 (as per above).
In the event that the Company did not charge the deposit amount at the time the booking was made, the Company has the right to charge such deposit amount at the time (or immediately after) the cancellation of the hire is made by the hirer to cover the cancellation cost (as per the cancellation policy above).
Bookings
Reservations that are not prepaid in advance will be held for 30 minutes past the reserved pick-up time unless you contact us to change your pick up time. 30 minutes after the reserved pick up the reserved vehicle will be available to another customer. Reservations that are prepaid (or where a deposit has been charged by the Company), will be held for 2 hours and might be on occasions held for more hours, if the hirer contacts the Company to inform of changed circumstances.
We will try our best to allocate another vehicle for you on your late arrival but availability cannot be guaranteed.
Card Security:
The payment process uses SSL encryption for security. At no time are credit or debit card details stored or used for any purpose by Eastern Rentals. All information that you provide is encrypted and transmitted via 128 bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer). SSL is the system used by all legitimate shopping sites worldwide.
Insurance:
Standard Insurance is provided free of charge with an excess of $2000 for all hires. Our Premium Insurance reduces the excess to NZ $250 and is available on inquiry at an extra cost.
- For a $1,000 excess we charge $35 per day for a truck, $25 per day for a bus and $15 per day for a car.
- For a $250 excess we charge $55 per day for a truck, $40 per day for a bus and $15 for a car
Exclusions: the excess for drivers who are under 21 years of age and/or whose driver’s license have been issued less than 12 months ago is $3,000.
Note: if you are securing your booking by cash/eftpos/debit card rather than a credit card, you must take the premium insurance cover. We won’t be able to process your booking if you refuse to take the premium cover.
Rental duration & Late Returns:
24 hours from time of pick-up. Late return charges apply (note grace period is 5 minutes).
Hourly rate hire:
To meet the demands of our customers we offer fixed price hourly rate hires. Minimum hourly rate hire is 2 hours; maximum is 3 hours (after which, daily rate applies). Note if your hire is less than 2 hours you will be charged a 2 hours hire.
Please note that the grace period for our hourly rate hire is 5 minutes. In practice that means:
1 hour = will be charged for 2 hours
2 hours 5 minutes = will be charged for 3 hours
3 hours 5 minutes = will be charged for a full day
Fuel:
Each vehicle is supplied with a full tank of either petrol or diesel and is to be refilled at the renter’s expense on the completion of the hire.
